With all the negatives around I thought it was time to state a positive. Having biked year round for about 10 yrs I wanted to congratulate the city for the care they are taking in keeping Meewasin trail clear. The last three years have been great. The time delay between snowfall and clearing this year has been minimal. Often within 12 hrs the path between University bridge (25th St) and the water plant is cleared. It is much appreciated and makes riding so much easier.
I have found that in the last few years there have been numerous improvements in driver attitude towards bikes. Some may not agree but I’m yelling a lot less than I used to. One recurring problem that never seems to go away is the driver habit of looking left and turning right. Sometimes at 20+km/hr. The worst place I see is the east bound merge lane onto University bridge. There is no easy way to get onto Meewasin trail from the bridge when heading west on Spadina. So keep your eyes open.
I came here looking for tips and suggestions for how to improve my experience bicycling in Saskatoon but I’m not seeing any info to help with that. It would be really helpful to see a map of bike routes and businesses that are bike friendly.
